Asia Pacific Cultural Center (APCC) has been planning a permanent home for 24 years and has decided to expand on the site it currently resides on South Tacoma Way, which is leased through Metro Parks Tacoma. The goal is to have a permanent multi-faceted facility to serve the community and draw visitors from abroad for decades to come. Through a permanent home, APCC will realize our mission of bridging communities and generations through arts, culture, education, and business.
The center is expected to bring in 400,000 in visitors annually as well as generate paid programming and space rental. The home will be the bridge to others for all of our represented 47 communities of color equally. The first phase of the development will include the rehabilitation of the 10,000 sq. ft. existing facility and the construction of an 8,500 to 10,000 sq. ft. wing. The cultural center will feature a gallery space, tea room, martial arts/dance studio, cultural display space, performance auditorium, classrooms, small library, gift shop, and an Asian Pacific garden space.
