On July 9, 2021, the Ethiopian Community in Seattle held a community celebration on the groundbreaking on the Ethiopian Village Project. The Ethiopian Village Project, located on the Ethiopian Community Center site in Seattle’s Rainier Valley, will provide 90 units of affordable housing for seniors and renovate and expand existing space to provide services & programs to the community.
As a member organization of the Communities of Concern Commission, the Ethiopian Community in Seattle (ECS) is one of the first grassroots organizations founded by Ethiopian immigrants residing in the greater Puget Sound. Since its founding in 1987, ECS has been serving Ethiopians and East Africans of Seattle and King County.
